Well I use these for weightlifting and they perform well. They are completely flat so it gives my feet a very stable resting place when performing squats, deadlifts and other heavy movements. Also a side benefit is that it saves my other shoes from taking the beating making them last much longer since soft shoes wear out very easy under heavy stress.
I highly recommend this shoe for lifting.

I got a pair of yellow low-tops for Christmas last year and I LOVE THEM!!! They're about to get holes in them because I wear them so much, and I'm trying to pick out what color I should get. There's so much to love about these shoes. There's like 25 colors to pick from, so there is the oppourtunity to have a piar for EVERY SINGLE OUTFIT. Or, you can wear just one pair, like I do, and mine go with everything. These shoes are breathable, unlike tennis shoes, so your feet don't get all sweaty, which is nice too. These shoes are quite flat inside, but there's nothing that an insert can't fix. THESE SHOES ARE THE BEST!!!

IMPORTANT! The Purple Mountain Chucks are actually a darkish concord grape purple, with a lot of gray. Nothing like the light purple shown in the picture!

These shoes are incredibly durable, and provide comfortable ankle support, making it easy to move aroung as fast as you want; you have to keep up with the shoes, not vice versa! These are basketball shoes, so they are great for running, basketball, soccer, and sport you could think of! Or, they could be just casual shoes. Another wonderful feature is that they are uni-sex, so guys and girls can wear them! Converse All-Stars RULE!

This is only for Converse virgins. These are Chuck Taylor Converse,Low Top Black M9166. AMAZING, stylish, classic,unisex shoes that goes well with pretty much any outfit and can be used for just about any "normal" activity..school,moderate gym time, daily wear, etc.
Three things to watch for:
1. Keep ur shoes clean of mud, dirt, coffee stains, dog poop, etc etc. The whites are really white and when the stains contrast against the black, it shows the whole world what a dirty bum you really are. ( Unless you go for that scruffy, bum look then its PERFECT for you.)
2. The sizing run larger than normal. Meaning I normally wear size 9, and I fit in a size 8. I think the rule of thumb is to go a size smaller with these.
3. Make sure your socks fit u. MAke sure the shoes fit you, but not too tight. Canvas shoes are UNFORGIVING on ur feet when wearing with really thin socks or loose socks. Think massive blisters.
Other than that. Enjoy. These shoes are great, especially for their price. I also recommend the leather version and the Jack Purcells. Great alternatives or just get them all lol.
